I discovered today that product listings on FAB use a different 3D model viewer from the Sketchfab 3D viewer, and the inferior FAB model viewer handles things like transparency quite differently, as well as lacking the model detail view that the Sketchfab 3D viewer provides. The FAB embedded 3D viewer also loads a LOT slower than Sketchfab 3D viewer embeds, and looks even worse while loading.
I’ve been trying to sort out a problem after migration from Sketchfab, that being it didn’t set up the 3D view in Fab, instead it just placed a 2D image in the media viewer for all migrated models.
So I started the process of deleting the images and replacing with 3D models…so time consuming…
Anyhow…I had one model that had transparency. I clicked on the transparency texture and turned it on and the model completely disappeared. I could only get the model back if I switched off transparency.
I could not apply the transparency to the model.
And yes I don’t like the Fab 3D viewer. I think Sketchfab was better.
I’m also pretty anxious about the Fab 3D viewer. They’re building it from scratch, so it’s going to take some time for them to reach the same quality as Sketchfab. Ideally, I would love to see a mixture of Marmoset and Sketchfab as one solid solution.
