Hi.
Have a strange problem. Opening Cinema 4d scenes via Datasmith takes huge amount of time.
When importing the scene it freezes on ‘Unreal Datasmith’ window at 0-70% mark for a while. It happens when animation bullet in the import settings is on. When it’s off the scenes opens in no time.
Also the freezing time depends of the length of the project.
Here’s the import time of the simple scene (R25, few primitives and the camera movement) with different length in frames
Also on the another machine /i7-9700/32 RAM/RTX2060 (driver 516.94)/WIN11/ all this happens twice faster (but still veeeery slow on the relatively long length projects)
And on the third machine /i7-9700k/64 RAM/RTX3060/WIN10/ it takes no time to open any project, like it should be.
could you tell me, if you’re using the CinewareForUnreal plugin or are you using the pre-installed DatasmithC4DImporter. If it is possible, could you post a C4D file where this happens? If it’s confidential, you could go to our support center and submit a request with the file attached and something like “Unreal Datasmith C4D slow animation import” in the title: Support Center (maxon.net)
(click on “create a ticket”)
Hi. Used it both ways. Saved it for Cineware or as regular C4D. No difference at all.
And the project is not confidencial at all) It’s just a few cubes and the camera with two keyframes. Made just for this issue checking)
In my case this problem concirns any project, no matter how complicated or primitive it is.
I have the same problem.
I’ve done tests with an animated camera in C4D R23, R25, R26, always have the same very slow results.
Everything was fine with UE 5.02.
Thank you very much, this works fast, but I have problem with animated Fracture object import, somehow geometry is duplicated, one has animation the other doesn’t.
Any idea why this is happening?
Hi, there is a fixed importer available for download at Maxon - Unreal Integration. Select the
“DOWNLOAD PLUGIN FOR UNREAL ENGINE 5.0.3 (REQUIRES CINEMA 4D 2023.1)” Link.
