Externally saving large Assets (i.e. Quixel content)

Hello - this question should be quick to answer:
I run a NAS with like 40 TB storage left. Also, I see the size of these photo scanned assets accumulating on my PC.
My NAS connection is relatively slow, but I run Unreal and save its projects via an SSD.
When I import a Quixel Asset into Unreal it essentially creates a copy in form of a .uasset in my project folder right? so it shouldn’t be a problem (speed-wise) to download the raw assets onto my NAS - because after I click ‘export to Unreal’ the location of the Raw data shouldn’t matter - right?
Aside from the increased initial import/download time the performance of the project shouldn’t be affected, no?

Thanks in advance
