Expot textured mesh to OBJ

I’m using CR for creating 3D models of sculptures or other Cultural Heritage field. When I’m exporting a mesh object to OBJ and then I would like to import to Cinema 4D for example (to render it), object apears like a ‘box’, some times with milions of points inside creating a chaotic shape.
Please help me to export a clean model to OBJ (or other compatible mesh to use in Cinema 4D or other 3D animation software).

Thanks!

Hi Josep
It looks like a C4D OBJ importer issue… When you export the OBJ, change the NUMBER FORMAT from Scientific 16 to DOUBLE and then report back if it is working…

good morning,
I tryied changing NUMBER FORMAT i various options and OBJ seams even the same, importing on Cinema 4D or more standar MeshLab.
Same model processed with ************** I can export to OBJ as perfect shape model.
I’m sending you attached some screen captures.
Thanks
josep

same model processed with ********** we can export to OBJ, FBX, 3DS or other fully compatible format for render and animation software like Cinema 4D, Blender, MeshLab, etc.

model is perfectly processed (and fast!) on CR

…butwhen I exported to OBJ then apears this ‘box’ arround the mesh

Any idea to export a clean mesh?
It is possible to test it on MeshLab because is free sofware

thenaks in advance

RC always exports as a water tight solid. I don’t think it is capable of exporting just the surfaces. You can either delete the extra geometry in a mesh editor or do a more complete capture of the subject ( in your example the roofs and backs of the buildings.) It is a pain but even with editing in meshmixer RC is way faster than PS. The lack of this feature is a bit off putting though.

You can also use the reconstruction region and the filtering tool in RC to remove these faces.

I’m really sorry about this. I must do near 100 models like this and I bought a licence (3 month) just for this. Cleaning by hand this model is not a good solution.
I’m sorry for my and my time, but I’ll be back to *********, slow but clean meshes.

Hi Josep
There are multiple tools that can select and remove LARGE triangles. look for sketchfab or similar software… it can be done pretty fast
