I coughed up the cash for Maya because I am much more comfortable with it than I am with Blender.
However, I still have one issue that is still bugging me (which I also had in blender, too)
When I do an export (File -> Send to Unreal)
and then switch over to Unreal and do my import, my mesh is TINY!
How do I fix this? I would have thought that with Maya having added “Send to unreal”, it would have automatically exported it to the scale that Unreal would be using? No?
Place a locator in the scene and move it to the top of your mesh. Is it close to 180 or 18? It should be close to 180-200 units to be similar to the blue guy.
Is your mesh placed inside groups/transforms with scale values? If so, it is a big no-no.
Last but not least, have you deleted all non-deformer history on your mesh?
Hey everyone, you have all been so helpful with this!
Essentially what it is, is that when I set Maya to use cm as the units for working with, the grid is tiny, so I was working away at my own perspective and thinking the wall was a meter tall, when really it was a cm - This is partially my own fault, but then I have another issue… Say I want to create a wall section - that would be say 270cm high (9 feet) - and then 300cm long… which can be done, but by the time I zoom out enough to see it, the grid is too small to be of any use!
Maybe I should be working in meters? then exporting in cm? (for things like walls anyways) Would that be more intuitive?
