Hello, I have a problem with my character mesh not working right after import. The arms hang to far low. Here is what I did,
• Using UE 4.26
• Fresh ThirdPersonTemplate clean project.
• Added Epic’s Animation Starter Pack to the project.
• Retargeted the Animation Starter Pack Idle_Rifle_Hip animation to the Default ThirdPersonTemplate Mannequin - WORKS as it should!
• Exported Default ThirdPersonTemplate Mannequin as FBX using the default options and FBX 2018 selected. (I tried all FBX Versions and still have the same problem in the end)
• I did nothing to the FBX file and just Imported it back into a new folder to play around with for testing this problem.
• Import settings
• After import I can drag out the skeletal mesh of the newly imported FBX character into the map and place it next to the Default ThirdPersonTemplate Mannequin. It looks perfect and the right size etc.
• I open up the the newly imported character’s skeletal mesh and setup the default retargeted options.
• Next I try to retarget the Animation Starter Pack Idle_Rifle_Hip animation to the newly imported character like I did to the default Mannequin, but when I select the new skeleton that I imported the character looks twice the size as it should. On import I left the scale default to “1” and if I drag out the mesh it’s the right size. If I complete the retarget it breaks the Animation Starter Pack Idle_Rifle_Hip animation.
• The problem
I have retargeted a lot of characters in my many years of UE but never seen this happen.
I was actually importing a character from Blender and thought I messed up the FBX somewhere through the process, so I decided to check on a Fresh clean ThirdPersonTemplate project and the problem is still happening.
If anyone knows how to fix this issue please let me know, I would really appreciate it!
Hopefully something simple… The UE 4.26 documentation states to export using FBX 2018 but I tried every version and still have the problem.
