Exported masks - wrong scaled

Hi,

I use the masks export a lot and it worked very well. Now I have a project where the masks are wrong scaled.

Any idea why this is happening?

Hi, the main difference in this project is that I used rough masks to align and mesh and to generate the precise mesh masks.

Hello, I would say you have either changed the source images somehow, or possibly have changed the scale of the scene in RC somehow. Could you try to export them once again and immediately just bring them back to RC to make sure?

Hi, please find the sizes of the image and masks below:

I did another try where I fixed the 2 missing pixels of the rough mask but still, with a new project and no scaling or change of ground plane it gives the masks with wrong scaling.

Hello Fabio,
sorry for getting this information to you so late, I have found out this already is a registered bug in our system. It will be fixed in the new release soon.

Many Thanks!

Hi ,

can you tell me if the new release is coming this week? Otherwise I need to find a workaround for this bug.

Many Thanks!

Hello Fabio, the release should come really soon, please keep an eye on our Facebook page Capturing Reality Arena. It will be announced there.

Hi ,

I did update to the new version and the bug is different but not gone. The exported masks now are good but some are just incomplete, see fotos:

Are you sure you have used the correct workflow here? To make sure, I will describe it below.
Import images
Align
Reconstruct
Filter out everything that is not a real part of the model (the subject you are shooting)
Once there is only your subject as a model you export the masks.

If this is something you’ve done then did you also try to reexport them? Possibly the files have been interrupted while being written down.

Dear Erik,

yes I do use the correct workflow like you described it. I also tried clearing all caches and creating new projects. If I do the same fotoset in two projects always the same masks do fail, so there is no interruption in the export process.

Could you please share the project and the inputs with me? I’d need to test it and then report it as a bug if it confirms.

Dear , could you already download the material?

Dear Fabio,
there thing going very wrong with your dataset. Will list them below

-The subject should be framed much better, it now only covers about 10% of the frame.
-The background should be clean and should not move at all.
-If you want to turn the object upside down, do not use the marker there and even worse, do not use two different ones in the same place as it was used here.
-Do better overlaps, the angles are a little weak.

If these things change, there is a big chance you will not even need any of the masks.

Dear ,

many thanks for your feedback. Do I understand you right, that all this is not the reason for the wrong masks? The earlier version of RC did very good masks, only with wrong scaling, also for this dataset.

Dear ,

I know you probably have other things to work on, but I’m very interested whether you have plans to fix this problem or not.

Many Thanks!

Hello Fabio,

which version of RealityCApture do you use? The masks should work correctly in version 1.1 Blaze.

You can find a tutorial on how to use them here:

Hello Zuzana,

may thanks for your reply. Ijust watched the video and yes my workflow is the same, only that I use masks rough external made masks on the loops and then the generated masks on the final alignment. 60% of the exported masks are perfect but around 30% are partial like the screenshots above show.

I used version 1.1.0.12901

Best.

Hello ,

I did a retry with the actual release 1.1.1.14258 and the problem is still present.

Many Thanks!
