Please add the ability to export textures only without the mesh. In instances where the geometry is being cleaned up in external software and textures reprojected this is unnecessary and leads to excessive data duplication.

I don’t think this is possible (I may be wrong though). Texture is not just image, but UV coordinates as well. And every uv coordinate belongs to some vertex on some face of the mesh. So if you change topology of the mesh, than texture may not fit to this mesh.

I don’t get your point there. You want to clean mesh, but you don’t want to export it?
If you meant to export just mesh without textures, then it is already possible in RC (In export panel, just change “Export textures” value to False).
Can you explain this a bit more? I feel I didn’t understand what you need. Sorry.
Sure thing… ideal case below (already possible with ImageModeler and with higher bit depth as well… shame it’s not as fast or the geometry not nearly as amazing)

I’ve built my raw geometry with RC. I export it and retopologize, clean, and rebuild UVs in external softwares. (ZBrush, Maya, etc.)
-
I import this pristine master geometry into RC and project the textures with the new UVs.
-
I export the textures. (not the geometry I’m already happy with)
That’s it!
I know it’s an old thread, but not only it should be possible
it is also very handy just like Robert said.
I would very much like a feature like that
