Hi, I’v got a really weird problem when I export a FBX with an actor attach to another one, at first it showed a parent and a child in maya , but somehow that doesn’t happen anymore and I don’t know why , I tried doing the same thing with 4.19 , works fine in maya . is there anyone has same problem before?
Hi
Are using Maya or MayaLT? Here are some basic suggestions:
Have you tried using the Game Exporter?
Try deleting history and freezing transformation as well
Also, make sure that you combine both meshes/actors.
Lastly, Maya does seem to act weird every now and then and restarting it might help.
Hope you find this helpful
Hi , thanks for the reply, but I found I might not explain it clearly. First, I export a fbx file (one actor attach to another) from UE4 then I import it to maya( maya 2018). The result, it should be one parent and a child, shows different after maybe a day and it never looks correctly anymore. I mean I tried restart maya , restart UE4, change how I attach those actors(attach to component or actor), then I export a fbx file from UE4 4.19 to maya, and it looks perfectly fine. It seems to me maya has nothing to with this problem though.
So far I have no clue about it because I didn’t do anything other then attach actors and export it. I guess I will try deleting history to see what will happen.
I think I starting to get you are after. But may I ask why you are trying to export the asset from UE4 to Maya? Were you trying to edit it or add more parts/meshes to it?
Was the asset bought of the market? Is it a skeletal mesh or static meshes? If the latter, you could export them separately and parent/group them inside Maya then export them again to UE4.
The only asset that I exported from UE4 to Maya (2016) in the past was the mannequin to use as a reference image for my level and I remember the skeleton was a bit messed up but I wasn’t planning to animate it.
This is about the tool I’m making for maya user(my colleague) to edit environment content more conveniently. So basically those actors are static meshes. I guess I may persuade them parent meshes manually or do something after importing it, but what I don’t understand is why at the moment it was correct, then it broke down and never going back. That is so confusing.
