I’m having trouble exporting from Reality Capture, I can’t get the textures to apply when the point cloud model is opened in Re Cap, or Twinmotion. I have exported as lots of different types, and have normally been ok with .xyz. But this latest project is causing me problems. I did open a model in Re Cap with textures which was titled “mesh_HighPoly_Smoothed_2.xyz” this opened ok, but was an earlier model which wasn’t good enough. I can’t remember how to export the xyz as the above named file, I’m pretty sure I just added the 2, as this was the 2nd attempt. None of which open with textures in Twinmotion BTW, but I can sort that later, just neeed to know how to export as the filename above, thanks.

fist of all, XYZ format is just for point cloud export, so it doesn’t have textures.
I suppose you provided High detail reconstruction and then you used Smoothing tool to create that model.
To export XYZ format you need to go to SCENE 3D/TOOLS/Export/Mesh and PointCloud
where you will set the file name and wanted format.
Then, for XYZ format you have some additional settings, where you can set the vertex color (to have colored point cloud):

The name of saved file is set according to the project name and model name.
Thanks, but I have opened the “mesh_HighPoly_Smoothed_2.xyz” in Re Cap, and its opened with textures, this is why I am getting confused. I have been exporting point clouds from Reality Capture several times, and have used them fully textured in Twinmotion, but now cannot find the correct format for exporting them with textures, what would you reccomend ?
As you can see in the export settings for XYZ format it is not possible (and never was) to export textures for XYZ (as it is point cloud). You can export colored point cloud and then it will be opened with colors, but it is different to textures.
Is it possible that you mean colored model?
This is how the xyz file opens in ReCap Pro, fully textured.
I have tried exporting as Fbx, which also comes into Twinmotion with textures, but is not great quality, what are the maximum quality settings for fbx ?
Yes, this is a point cloud, colored. It is possible, that you computed textures, but for point cloud the vertex colors need to be computed again (as texture is only for meshes).
To achieve this you need to have colored model in RealityCapture.
You can use direct coloring of the model using Coloring tool under MESH MODEL/Mesh Color & Texture/
or you can use Texture tool, but in that case you need to have set Yes in Recolor model after texturing in the Texture settings:
Then you should see you model colored/textured inside RealityCapture.
After that you can export a wanted format (XYZ) and the option Export vertex colors should be set to Yes
After that you will be able to see the colored exported point cloud.
The texture quality depends on used images and texture settings? What kind of images do you have? Are they aligned correctly? How does the model look inside RealityCapture? What are you texture settings?
What do you mean by not great quality? Can you show some print screens?
Thanks, looks like it might have been the colorize option I had just gone straight to texturizing, also changed the Recolor option to yes, seems to have done the trick, phew, lot of stress relieved !
