Really bugging me now, i posted on the forums and didnt really get any help. ive been having this problem for nearly 2 weeks now…
basically what happens is i open the launcher, open a project or click launch for the editor, it opens the grey rectangular splash screen for ue4 editor and just stays on Loading… doesnt change, left it for over an hour at 1 point, and it just hangs on the same bit.
The only fix i have, is deleting everything ue4 related except my projects ofcourse. once i delete everything, i have to use the installer to delete UE Launcher and then reinstall. Then i have to wait about an hour to download the engine again, and then it loads fine.
If i close the editor down, i have to start this whole process again. its really bugging me now , got no clue as to why its doing this, i get no error reports/logs about it. everytime i use it, i get less and less interested because of this :/.
considering i’m paying for this product monthly and it not being functional properly since purchase, i’m pretty sure i’ve been patient enough with my forum post and now this answerhub. still having this problem 17 days now, so maybe my patience has run a little thin??
still having this problem is anyone has had a similair problem, any help appreciated!
Sorry to hear you are having this issue. To be clear, you are able to load the Editor once, and work with it. And then when you close it, and try to load it again, it always refuses to load past the splash screen? (is it always consistently every other time, or does it happen less consistently?).
When this issue occurs, have you tried aborting the process, restarting your computer, and then trying again?
Does the issue still occur if you bypass the Launcher and go direct to Program Files\Epic Games\Unreal Engine\4.5\Engine\Binaries\Win64\UnrealEditor.exe?
yes that’s what is happening, i load it up once, and can use everything with no problem, i close it, and cant reopen, even if i restart my PC/close the UE4editor.exe in processes. it just goes to the loading screen and hangs on it. i have to uninstall everything and re-install which means re-downloading the engine again, I’ve tried different engine versions to see if its that with no luck.
once i delete everything and re-install i can run it again without having to restart my PC, I’ve tried moving the engine build(4.5) folder to another location and deleting everything else related to ue4 and re-installing, and then moving the engine build(4.5) back to the re-installed location, this doesn’t let me open the editor up if I’ve re-installed.
which means each time i re-install, i have to re-download the engine which takes about an hour for me.
Did you also try running UnrealEditor.exe directly, with the Launcher closed?
Can you please attach your computer’s dxdiag report as well? We have not had any other user report this type of issue before, so we’ll need to try to identify what is unique about your system that causes it.
As Stephen mentioned this is very odd behavior that we’ve not come across before. Could you also provide the editor logs from the first startup after a re-install (when it is working) as well as any that are created when it hangs at the splash screen? The files are created in the following file path each time the editor is ran, so you will need to save out the first before running the editor a second time. The file path is C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\UnrealEngine\EngineVersion\Saved\Logs
