I am finishing up the BSP cuts for CTF-Coret (my all time fav UT99 map). Obviously for legal issues, it won’t be a clone of the original.
Stay tuned for update

Please reconsider the HOLP direction of the project. UT3 was lacking in the eye candy department because there was a lack of colour. Everything looked dark and grainy . Even the UDK remake of Deck looked so much better that the UT3 version. A brand new engine which is capable of delivering some incredible visuals would be wasted on creating maps that look like a 15 year old game. I would suggest taking Stevelois MAKO map styling to the next level.
However, I do agree that the music is an important part of the project.
Having said that though, I am excited to hear of project and wish it every success.

That it me is the HOLP style. That’s the type of style we’re aiming for.
Hi , I’m super excited to see this, I was actually going to start pretty much the same kind of thing, So I’m loving seeing a group already getting together! I don’t have a ton of experience with kinda stuff I’ve mostly worked in Source but I’d love to join you guys! If someone could add me to the skype group that would be awesome. ( friction9.8@hotmail.com ) Also Kinda an off topic question can anyone help me fix my signature, I’ve never had problems with it like but the html doesn’t seem to want to work :S
I have a little experience with UE4 but not much
you can also find me on steam at
Once the whole gameplay and such is beefed out i’d love to add a DM/CTF-esque level
I want to be sure that there is a whole load of set rules before I create a map.
As a decent map-maker for ut99/ut2k4 id love to revamp an old level of mine
Here’s the movement system that we’re aiming for. video shows a comparison of every iteration of Unreal Tournament’s movement system with Open Tournament. Mainly we increased the gravity scale since we decided to include dodge jumping. Dodge jumping in UT2k4 was floaty and caused the game to be hit-scan dominant. Hopefully UT2k4’s movement and UT3 weapons will make a great game play experience.

What is the scale of the player model? or what scale is being used on the maps?

is a good question that I would like to know also. What are scale factors you guys are using relative to the other UT’s? Numb.51, I would be interested to know what was decided by the team in terms of scaling for your Deck map.
I think the player character is basically twice times bigger in OT, because the height is 180 units, and during my test, I had to enlarge the layout twice the size of the original, to make it feels similar.

Thanks for that info!
If I build a map and it’s the wrong scale is it easy to rescale the whole thing?

No haha. It’s hard and extremely tedious. I eye balled deck the first time and messed up. It took me about 7 hours to rescale it. Don’t even try the rescaling tool. I havent tried it in ue4 but in previous versions it only made things worse.

Yeah that’s what I expected, but thought I’d ask just encase I was missing some secret to rescaling XD. Is anyone currently doing DM-Agony or DM-Shangrila?
Quick question. is anyone doing Skybox designs? Or are we just modifying UE 4 defaults?

Im doing CTF-Coret remake, which is basically indoor map, so no skybox here.
Although, it would be nice if someone does a space themed box

Well, it could be tedious if you use BSP to make the whole layout, but in my case, I used staticmeshes to create layout, and it was quick.

I just have not seen many Skyboxes done in UE 4 yet and was curious to how some were going to turn out.

A Morpheus or Diemos inspired environment would be pretty cool.

Neither are being made at the moment. I’d start small. I suggest agony because it’d probably take less time, but it’s up to you. The more maps we have the better
[=M^uL;14524]
I also agree with Numb.51 on the style. HOLP style would be best. That said, you can still have beautiful looking low poly maps if the time is put into it and it’s not a crime to have a mesh here and there. The maps should still have that Unreal-y feeling.
Another side I don’t think has been discussed much is the **music ** side. I know a lot of pros just turn the music off but , the music was a big part of the Unreal atmosphere. Finding someone that could do some custom tracks would be a big boost for the project I think.

Hey there.
I’m extremely new to the forums and I’m quite new to the Unreal Engine, but I’m a Huge fan of the Unreal Tournament series. The first one came out when I was only 7 but that only makes the feeling that I grew up with series even stronger, heh.
Anyway, I make music.
Here’s a couple of samples:
Stream Ninjas In The Engine Room by LunyAlex | Listen online for free on SoundCloud - Electro
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/63563864/The%20Fires%20of%20Set.mp3 - Cinematic/Orchestral
Uprising - Metal
I’ve never actually tried to replicate the Unreal Tournament vibe, and the above tracks surely don’t fit stylistically(Linked them to see if where I’m at with production quality would be enough for project) , but I’d love to start work on a UT-style demo track ASAP.
I’d be extremely excited and humbled to be able to contribute.
https://.com/watch?v=_gNWfSGXnpgMan, I learned how to extract the .ogg files from UT2k4 to be able to listen to track outside of the game. I was 13 and definitely not too computer savvy, so it took me a while, hah.

Just going to stop you right there and say that I really, REALLY like “Ninjas in the engine room”. Great stuff, hope to see you on the team (Assuming you’re wanting a part of it, that is).
Is there a way to input size on meshes or do you just have to scale. Also is it better for levels for to be build in bsp or mesh
