Every element gets duplicated when reimporting FBX.

I'm working on a project in Revit, my workflow is: Export FBX > Import in Twinmotion > Start working on textures and whatnot > Update the model in Revit > Export again > Update the imported model in Twinmotion > Repeat.

Yesterday we were having trouble with a VR heatset, and then the model started collapsing in my computer, usually with 70+ FPS, it was dropping to 14 in closed environments.

I tought the problem could be with the hundreds of pallet racking we have on the project (industrial warehouse), and to my surprise, when I deleted the first one, it didn't disappear. I then proceeded to selecting every asset group (furniture, walls, beams, columns, roofs, etc) and every single one of them, when deleted, stayed where they were.

Now I'm back to my usual FPS rate, but would like to figure out how to prevent this from happening in the future, since model updates are a regular job, and we rely on panoramic/VR presentations to showcase the model to clients.

TL/DR: Every FBX asset gets duplicated when reimporting. Deleted everything and it's still there, FPS came back to normal. What can I do to prevent this from happening?

Hope someone can help. Thanks a lot.

Hello ,

Thank you for posting in the community and sorry to hear about the troubles.

There seems to be something in your file affecting the FPS and it could be the size of textures, the number of polygons, animated elements, and would require further investigation as it could also be something else with the setup. Please contact us by reporting a bug here: https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/case-community-page

We would need to better understand your process and steps with the FBX update so see what causes the elements to be duplicated after they are deleted. Please provide details in the bug form regarding this issue as well.

As an alternative I also suggest you use the Datasmith Exporter plugin to transfer/import your work into Twinmotion instead of the FBX format:

Thank you for the answer,

I'll follow your suggestion and report it.

Regarding the mentioned size of textures, is it usually a problem when they are too big or too small? I'll also try making the trees static, even though they only appear when outside, and the FPS is not a problem when looking at them, but at the imported model itself.

Regarding Datasmith, unfortunatelly it is not a option, as we only use licensed software, and for now, Revit LT is our choice, which does not support plugins, so we need to find a workaroud. It seems to be a problem with a simple solution, so I'll try to work as it is while waiting for an answer from the bug report.

Kind regards,

Gerolin Eng.
