Ever heard of this? (UE4 for 3D animated film)

 Hey guys!

I know that Unreal is usually used for videogame creation. But I’m wondering if anyone has ever used it to make a 3D animated film. Or at least create characters for one. Asking because I’m writing a book that is going to become a film using 3D animation. It takes place in the 1960s in L.A. {and some of it takes place in other places between 1947 maybe and 1960}. Needless to say I need to be historically accurate. And although I thoroughly adore Mixamo Fuse and always will. But there are things that are missing from Fuse in a very major way {long wavy hair, short curly hair, doughboy uniform, olive drab military uniform, a woman’s housedress and womens eyewear}! And try as I might I can’t complete an import into Fuse no matter what I do. Also. Can you use characters from Unreal with Source Filmmaker?? Sorry for the “stupid” questions. But…

Get back to me on this,
Thanks!!

I approved your post but I removed the eye bleeding font colour and font size that you originally posted in. There is no need to make posts in a different color and font size. Thanks.

I’ve seen a few animated shorts made in UE4, some of them pretty good so its definetly possible. You will just have to get creative with the tools you want to use

I dont know any movies that were made with the UE4, but there is a good one from the “UDK times” (UE3) -> ?v=JwDjuixA1fA
Keep in mind that you cant create any content (characters, buildings,…) in the UE4! You will have to create it in a 3d program -> then import it

 Ok. Thanks . Btw. Stupid question maybe. But let me ask anyway. Just imported an obj file into UE. Where do I find stuff that I import??

Get back to me,
Thanks!!

PS: Hey . Sorry about the color change if you didn’t like it. But need to use this size. Sight impaired.

@RavenOceanPark: If you are using a modern browser you can increase the font size quite easily for people who are sight impaired.

Press [CTRL] and +] to increase the size and [CTRL] and -] to decrease the size. It changes the whole site for you not just your text … much easier than having to use font settings.

You can find everything in your content browser (there where you import it)
