Error while Building/Compiling UE4

Hi ,
I’m installing the engine through an internal hard drive. I tried installing Epic Games Launcher on another device and it did work without any problem. As far as I know, my antivirus does not block UE4 / UnrealEngine. I’ve also tried compiling the UE4 after turning off the antivirus and it still didn’t work.

If you were able to install the engine on a separate machine then it leads me to believe there may be an issue with the current computer. Please try installing the launcher again using the information from the following link and let me know if you have any success or other errors/questions:

Hi ,

We have not heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing the issue you reported, please respond to this message with additional information and we will offer further assistance.

Thank you.

Hi ,
Yes, I am still experiencing the same issue with Unreal Engine. I heard that the 0xc00007b error could also be related with some corrupt .dll files. So I tried reinstalling Microsoft DirectX but it didn’t work. I also upgraded to Windows 10 hoping that it might reinstall the .dll files for me, but nope. I have the same error as before and I still don’t have a solution for it.

I came across some information that appears to indicate the 0xc00007b error may be related to Visual Studio dlls. If you’re using VS 2013, please try switching to 2015. If you are using VS2015 can you try downloading the redistributables (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145) and ensure that they are up to date?

Right so I’m back, after like a year but I tried to download UE4 on another computer that I own and it worked fine. So I tried to copy all the files from the directory to my main computer but then I get the error “0xc000007b”. No surprise there. I’ve been trying to figure what’s making this happen. All of my games that I own run perfectly but only Unreal Engine 4 doesn’t want to work.

Hey -

To confirm if I understand correctly, you are unable to get the engine to build from source nor install via the Launcher on your main computer? Can you let me know what versions of Visual Studio are on that computer? Additionally, were you able to download the VS2015 redistributables from the link above to make sure they were up to date?

Hey ,
Sorry for the delay! But I managed to fix it. Apparently my computer was missing the xinput1_3.dll. So I added it both to the system32 file and also the Unreal Engine 4 Directory. And it worked!! Thanks for the help though! You can consider this post as “Answered”.
