Hey there
I’am working with quite big reality capture projects (800+ TLS stations, 15k+ Images from Survey Drones, etc.). Due to the size of my projects i normally create an alignment and then export the .rcalign component, which i then re-import into new projects for reconstruction of different needed parts.
Since one or two weeks i am encountering strange errors. It started with the error that when hitting the “high reconstruction” button, the step “calculating depth maps” stopped somewhere between 15% and 40%, GPU (CUDA) and CPU activity stopped, while RAM was 1/3 full (48GB in my case). It stayed like that for +12hrs, then i aborted.
Now, i cant event start the reconstruction anymore, after some minutes, an Error “The image header is unrecognized” [0x2010\0x2000\0x310f\0x2038\0x2030\0x5052] appears and reconstruction stops.
It also happens on “normal reconstruction” and also, if “relative paths” is turned on/off.
I tried resetting RC in every available way (hold shift while clicking the icon) re-installing both, Reality capture & the epic games launcher, including cleaning everything from %appdata%, %temp% and even the registry. I updated all GPU drivers, enlarged the page file to 512 GB, nothing helped.
I was able to reproduce the error on multiple computers with different hardware specs (including really heavy beasts), so hardware capacity should not be a problem at all, especially given the fact that it worked very well until last week. It also appears in different projects with different image &TLS data aswell as when i re-import the component in new projects. Always the same error.
I tried with Reality Capture 1.5 and 1.4.2; currently i am not able to work with my reality cpautre projects at all. I think that it seems to be a bug inside the RC software 1.4.2, since it worked perfectly before.
I will go on trying different stuff and update here, but i thought i share the issue with you, maybe somebody encounters the same problems or has ideas on how to proceed.
Regards,
M
