Error symbol when dragging material

When dragging materials from the library UE4 is giving me an error symbol and I can’t place the material.

I am using UE 4.8.

Hi -

You are attempting to place a Material Function onto a Static Mesh. You will need to place the Material Function into a Material first then place the Material on your Mesh.
