Hi,
I’ve tried installing Ue4 A.R.T tool into Maya 2014 (student version) but I am running into an issue. When I define the path to the Maya tools folder (after opening Maya), Maya software just goes into this state of constant loading and keeps flashing. If I delete the “mayaTools.txt” file that gets generated when I define the path to the Maya tools folder, Maya comes back to its normal state and everything works just fine.
Also, I’ve ensured that the “userSetup.py” file is only present in the scripts folder for Maya 2014 version (as I have two versions of Maya on my computer) but unfortunately that didn’t help fix the issue.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
Hey SheetalR,
This occurs when you have the userSetup.py in both your global maya scripts folder (Documents\maya\scripts) and in the 2014 scripts folder (Documents\maya\2014-x64\scripts). Please double check both locations.
Hello ,
Thank you for responding. I noticed that the userSetup.py file was present in both the global maya scripts folder and the 2014 version of the scripts folder (like you mentioned!). So I got rid of the copy from the global maya scripts folder, restarted Maya and re-defined the path to the Maya tools folder. But the same problem occurs - Maya constantly keeps loading and keeps flashing. I then got rid of the Maya prefs folder (renamed it actually), restarted my computer and then opened Maya and redefined the Maya tools path. But even after that the same behavior occurs.
Could there be anything else I’m doing wrong? Please let me know. I really appreciate any help.
Thank you,
What other version of Maya you are using? Try removing the userSetup.py file from that version’s script folder, if there. Also be sure you are leaving a copy of the userSetup.py in the original UE4 location of the version your project is set up in (ie. UE4.12.5)
Also, I’ve seen the following trick work for Maya 2016: Create a folder inside Documents\maya\2014-x64\scripts called “Maya Tools” and place the userSetup.py in that folder. Upon restarting Maya, it should prompt you locate the “Maya Tools” folder. Link to the newly created file.
