Error Installing Epic Games Launcher

Hallo Everybody,

I had on my computer Epic Games installed and was using UE4.26. I wanted to try UE5 and tried to install it through Epic Games. The installation worked, but when starting it through the laucher i got always a error about some packages that could not be downloaded. (But i was able to start UE5 direct from its installation folder).

So i uninstalled the Epic Games Launcher and tried to install it again. Unfortunalley now I’m getting the following error:

Error_EpicGames_Launcher
In the log file I got this error:

"CustomAction InstallDirectX returned actual error code -9 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)

The error always appears when “Installing DirectX”. I checked and I have DirectX 12.

I use Windows 11. Do anyone knows what is causing the problem ?

IF YOU DON’T HAVE VISUAL STUDIO DOWNLOAD IT AND GET ALL OF THE .NET FILES YOU CAN GET

IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE CORRECT .NET ITS LIKE .NET 4 OR 9 OR SOMETHING, IT IS BAD

SO IF YOU GO INTO VISUAL STUDIO INSTALLER AND INSTALL THE GAME PACKAGE FOR UNREAL ENGINE

DO THAT AND THEN TRY TO REINSTALL

I DONT CLAIM THIS IS THE ONLY FIX OR IT WILL ENTIRELY FIX YOUR PROBLEM

I have Visual Studio Downloaded. I solve the problem by running the msi throug command line adding SKIP_DIRECTX=“1” and worked :slight_smile:
