ERROR: Cook failed. ExitCode=-1073741819

Hello Im having a problem building my project. I have 2 problems.

  1. I can’t stop the cooker from cooking everything in my project. Im only cooking one map and it’s using a GameMode with minimal references. I’ve included screenshots.

  2. Because the cooker is including everything it’s cooking an asset that throws an Access Violation exception. I presume this is a bad reference to an asset that was either deleted or moved. I cannot determine which asset is causing this. Every asset I investigate opens and compiles fine and the game compiles and runs.

Any hints would be useful. I’ve tried clearing caches (Saved, Intermediate, DDC).

I cannot figure out how to attach a debugger to the cook process to figure out which asset is failing. If anyone has a link to documentation on how to do this it would be useful. I have no “Error:” in my cook logs.

AutomationTool exiting with ExitCode=25 (Error_UnknownCookFailure)

I resolved the Issue by using Visual Studio to attach the Debugger to the Cooking process called “UnrealEditor-Cmd.exe” while it was running.

I looked through the Stack frames for any functions that had arguments with asset path strings. I went up to the function arguments and it said “W_SkillTreeWide” was the asset throwing the exception. I looked further up the Stack trace for anything useful and there was function with an asset reference to the Asset loading “W_SkillTreeWide” and it was my PlayerController.

I went into Unreal and removed any references to “W_SkillTreeWide” in my PlayerController and cooked the project. BUILD SUCCESSFUL!!!
