As described elswhere, it is not possible for me to have new Suggestions for a control point after they have been cleared once and there are some edited ones in there already.
On the other hand, I just added a CP manually to a cleared one and all of a sudden there were about 10 new suggestions in there without me telling it to…
Hello Götz,
button ‘Clear suggested points’ will remove suggested control point measurements and ban suggestions for relevant images so that these measurements are not displayed and suggested anymore.
You can use button ‘Reset suggested points’ which will enable all cleared and banned suggestions.
Ah, ok. Thanks. The thing is though that it still won’t give me any more suggestions - even after reseting it. I do this regularly do since sometimes things get messed up, like CPs shifting to weird places or ridiculously high errors being displayed. I will post something as soon as I catch one of them again.
What is the idea behind banning new suggestions? I can only imagine it is meant for “wheeding” out unsuitable images, but why ban them permanently?
It just added them again unprompted. Happened when I was correcting one CP slightly l on releasing it - poof - all suggestions appeared…
Greetings.
When the user deletes a suggested measurement for particular control point, the image index of the measurement is added to the control point’s suggestion ban list. No suggestions are provided for the images on the ban list.
The rationale is that if the suggestion is misplaced, the user will correct the suggested measurement by moving it in 2d view and validating it (moving suggested measurement validates it) or explicitly validate it in the 1Ds tree. If the suggestion is completely wrong or the control point is not deemed to be measured in that image, it can be deleted and shall not appear again.
Summary:
- each control point has own suggestions
- each control point has own suggestion ban list
- one can delete and ban all suggestions for a control point (ribbon button ‘clear suggested points’)
- one can delete and unban all suggestions for a control point (ribbon button ‘reset suggested points’)
- one can invoke new suggestions directly (ribbon button ‘suggest points’)
- one can invoke new suggestions indirectly (by moving the control point in 3d by moving one of its validated measurements)
NOTE that, unfortunately, in the current release (1.0.3.3939) the reset button has a bug, it does not respect single control point selection (i.e. it treats single selection as all control points selection).
Ok, thank you for that consise rundown. That was all clear to me from what Zuzana added to my observations.
The bugs that I described still stand though. Suggestions in a cleared CP (as in all suggestions that I did not confirm are remocved) will sometimes be added automatically when a control point is adjusted in 2D.
The other errors did also occur, although I did not observe them again yet so that I can make a screenshot…
Hello Götz,
from the last bullet of Milan’s summary
- one can invoke new suggestions indirectly (by moving the control point in 3d by moving one of its validated measurements)
it follows that in the situation, when you adjust the measurement in 2D in a way that you change the 3D position of a specific control point, new suggestions can appear if RC can find new ones (different from the previous suggestions). However, the images that were banned by ‘clear suggested points’ should not appear again.
Hi Zuzana,
thank you, that seems to be the case.
I find this behavior confusing though.
Regardless of all this, I cannot reset the suggestions, so that all will be displayed again. That’s still a bug in my eyes since apparently I should be able to do just that…
