Now that the license has changed, what is Epic’s policy on the source code being seen by people that have not agreed to the license?
My main reason for wanting to know this is that I would like to do some youtube videos discussing the existing components and how to implement custom ones. Would it be okay to show source code in a tutorials vid?
UE4 licensees are permitted to post engine code snippets (up to 30 lines) in a public forum, but only for the purpose of discussing the content of the snippet.
Well I thought we had to sign a new EULA because of the engine going free. But being free is what I meant (free under a license).
Thanks for pointing that out. I feel a bit stupid for not reading the FAQ. I guess if I do show code in a video then it will have to be 30 lines or less.
What you’re looking to do with your video is fine. The intent here isn’t to limit exposition of useful stuff but to prevent mass distribution of the code outside of the EULA terms. A video could include lots of snippets of this size. Looking forward to the tutorials!
