Just got an email to create a password and login for for my educational account.

Is you guys or is it a scam?

We are looking into the cause of those emails. We believe that it is being caused by an error in the automation system. For now, we ask that you ignore the email.

Hi ,

Did you recently put in a request through our academic signup form (Erlernen Sie den Einsatz der Unreal Engine, der leistungsstarken Echtzeit-3D-Entwicklungsplattform - Unreal Engine)? If so, it may very well be our player experience team contacting you as a follow up. What exactly did the e-mail ask you to do? You certainly need to create an account at unrealengine.com, but is our customer service portal and there’s no way for you to create an account for that.

Regards,

got the same mail.
Yes, did put in a request on the academic signup form.
All the mail asked me to do was create a user name & password which leads to an almost blank page with “submit a request” on the TL of screen.

So, the e-mails are legit and coming from Epic, but there is no reason to actually create a username/password outside of the account you created at unrealengine.com. To avoid confusion, we are looking at removing message from the e-mails (which is simply a default we should have turned off in the first place). Sorry for any confusion. We’ll get it fixed soon.

Thank you for clearing that up! I was worried it was some kind of phishing scam.

While we’re here, is there any estimate as to how long it takes to become a verified Unreal Engine Educational user?
