Epic MegaGrant Status

Yesterday I applied to the Epic MegaGrant program. I received a message from the page confirming my submission. But I haven’t received a confirmation email. So I ask anyone who may be knowledgeable about this process, was I supposed to receive a confirmation email? Also, is there a website or something why I can check the status of my application?

Epic MegaGrants are not for individuals, solo developers, etc. Look at statistics - its mostly established teams with a big prior budget.

come on it’s nice to see that an sugars ant walks on a caramel mountan without being disinfected?

I haven’t seen any statistics.

When I filled out the form they were accepting applications from solo-developers. Even before you told me that it’s not for individuals & solo-developers, I figured it would be a moon-shot at best. I can only hope.

If you follow the link below and keep scrolling, you’ll eventually reach a list of entities that were awarded a MegaGrant:

Those 400 new entries are from 2021 only. Afair they are slowly approaching 2k recipients in total, or thereabout. And according to a recent post by a staff member, the allotted pool of $$$ has yet to be drained… It was a crazy amount of money to start with.

The list contains those who agreed to be listed. There may be many more who preferred staying anonymous. If (once!) you receive a MegaGrant, Epic will pop that question, and some more.

Some of those entities are individual, casual humans, like you & Nickname1. Well, maybe not like Nickname1 - judging by the recent posts, their attitude & relationship with the Epic platform is… complicated. In short - don’t listen to naysayers, pretty certain you can still get a grant. Do note that the wait time should be measured in months rather than weeks.

Click through the entries on the list - see where they lead, it’s all public. I can assure you that some of the folks on the published lists are, indeed, individuals not affiliated with any (AAA or otherwise) studios. Do note that it does not necessarily take a game to receive a grant. Epic awarded folks for all kind of contributions in the past.

Good luck!

Get in touch with your region’s evangelist. They can give you the best information.

When I asked what the intent of the grant was, basically they want to help people out who will make unreal shine - especially in non-traditional areas.

So like, if you are making a multiplayer shooter, it is harder to stand out there because everybody knows unreal is the top dog for multiplayer shooters. But if you are doing something unexpected like 2d, mobile, building some plugin that solves important problem for underserved niche, etc, that kind of stuff may stand out more.

But don’t take my word for anything, get in touch with the experts, they are making themselves available.

It’s heartening to read a message like this. Thank you for the encouragement and for providing evidence to make the case for optimism. :fireworks:

Wow, @Everynone liked the comment, admitting that he is bullying and is enjoying it. That crown on your head reflects your ego very accurately.

So, I wanted to give an update. After waiting for about two months, I received an email informing me that my submission was rejected. The email also stated that I could update my project and submit it again in the future. I’ll keeping working on my project for about another month and then resubmit it. :crossed_fingers:

Lastly, I just want to say how appreciative I am that I got a response at all. Thanks so much Epic!
