Epic Marketplace is unbearably slow

My computer is fast.
My internet is fast.
Unreal Engine 5.1 runs fine.

But whenever I open (or TRY to open) a page in Epic Store Marketplace it takes several seconds just to load the front page. And if I try to click on a marketplace item nothing happens.

Marketplace is slow, or it doesn’t work.

Why is this a problem?

Hey there! Sorry you are having trouble - I need a little more information to help answer your question. When you mention the Marketplace, are you refering to the Epic launcher? Screenshots would be very helpful - thank you!

Hi,

Thank you for trying to help me.
Yes I go to Epic Launcher, and then click on Marketplace.

But screenshots are not necessary, or I don’t see how they can help you.
Just now opening the Marketplace took several seconds.
Everything is slow and laggy - doesn’t matter what I click on.

And it happens almost every second time that I click on a Marketplace content package that:

  1. It takes several seconds to load a simple page with literally 1 image
  2. It doesn’t load at all but just freezes

Needless to say, this leads to poor user experience, and regretting using the software every time I open it.

Given how blazingly fast my computer is, how good my internet connection is, modern hardware, etc. etc., I would aim to argue that Marketplace is just slow software all around.

EVERYTHING is probably doing lots of memory allocations, server connections, etc., that is not needed. But I’m not an expert here, and you have a lot of talented engineers. So I’m hoping you can figure it out.

And again, thank you for taking your time to respond. Have a nice day!

Thanks for the additional detail, I’ll get back to you!

Thanks for your patience here! I think our best option is for you to get in touch with our Player Support Team. They will be able to collect some information about your system, which is helpful for us in better understanding why you are having trouble with the Epic Games Launcher.
Thanks so much!

good

I can agree 100%. The performance of the Marketplace within the Epic Games Launcher is terribly slow even if you have a great internet connection. It takes 5-10 Seconds to load a detail page or the page with the next results.
Performance in web browsers (Unreal Engine Marketplace | Store of UE Assets for Games and 3D Rendering - UE Marketplace) is way better.

One more thing:
it would be better for the User Experience if the “Back” Button would work as a “Back to the overview page” Button instead of forcing you to click it several times since it scrolls you back through all Tabs that you might have clicked on a detail page (Description, Reviews, Questions)

Life hack!

Epicgames Launcher Unreal Engine Marketplace always refresh itself, can you fix this? It lasts several months already

They are planning to replace the marketplace with a new asset store in a few months so likely it will be fixed with that, marketplace probably isn’t getting anymore work done anymore since it’s being retired very soon.
