I fully uninstalled the Epic Games Launcher and removed all remaining launcher-related folders to ensure a clean reinstall. After reinstalling the launcher, the issue still persists, and downloads continue to fail.
Lastly, I have never encountered this issue prior to now.
ADDITIONAL HELP REQUESTED
If anyone has experienced a similar issue or has any suggestions on what else I could try to resolve this problem, I would greatly appreciate your advice.
Hey @warmaster2143, and thank you for reaching out and providing as much detail as you could in the report. It’s appreciated and helps us identify the issue more easily.
Please also provide your launcher logs. You can get these by going to the launcher > Settings > Show logs and attaching the zip folder.
Also, have you reached out directly to Fab support with this issue? I want to check whether there’s already something in process and make sure we can streamline the investigation.
@SkyeEden I tried downloading something else from FAB, but it still fails. I’m not sure what else to try at this point, as this is becoming very frustrating. Have you found anything in the logs?
Hello! I was having this issue right now, and for anybody having it now, what worked for me is selecting a different version of UE to install any plugin, that worked, and then I could do it again in the version I actually intended. Hope that helps (even if it sounds stupid xD).
I have exactly the same problems, additionally I can’t even update plugins from the drop down under the given UE build. Would a second set of data help you?
Clear the Webcache: For PC users, Completely close the Epic Games Launcher and end via the task manger. Open a Run window (Windows + R), type %localappdata%, and delete the webcache(The webcache was missing for me, might be the cause of the problem.) and webcache_4430 folders inside the EpicGamesLauncher > Saved directory.
Run as Administrator: Right-click the Epic Launcher shortcut and select Run as Administrator before attempting to download updates again.
This is a Temp Band-Aid fix, works after first launch then has to be done again once a new cache is constructed. At least its a lead for the engineers.
This error FAB-FAB001 mostly happens when an asset is unlisted, or deleted, migrated hastily from Market Place to Fab. I have encountered this error at least 100 times for example when trying to figure out what that asset that its name only shows gun, has no description, no picture and when you open its page, it says this asset was removed or something like that but you still can download it. apparently it is not just me and that error happens to others too.
If you want to migrate assets from Market Place to fab, even those that were never migrated by owner, but someone who purchased it before FAB need to access it, you need to do it properly not half way.
If an asset is sold and later dev decides to remove it, the asset should stay frozen at that time with all description, pictures, files and stuff. Later if the developer wants to upload that same asset again, Fab need to offer a list of people who purchased the asset before and ask the developer if they want to replace the asset and give them access to new one.
2 more things.
clicking some assets will crash the FAB tab in Epic launcher to something went wrong error and opening page for same asset in browser will show nothing found and take me home
for example this one, doesn’t have a link, but in FAB tab when click on it, crashes the tab. and even though I’m owning it, I can’t download it either. and if I click on it from Unreal Market, it will give me Fab001 error! (I hope it is not the first and the only error that Fab can throw!)
There are also some assets that I still can see their listing and page, but when I open the page and try to download, both the list for Export and Download are empty!
