Issue 1
As title says as long as Launcher is refreshing my library, it doesn’t download, create project or add items to projects, even if the item is already in local vault.
This I believe started happening a few months back when the FAB tab was added to the launcher.
I have over 6500 items in library (excluding about 14K items from Mega Scans) which then it will takes more than 10 minutes to update and complete. During that time I have to sit there and watch the rotating refresh icon until it completes and stops, even if the Item that I’m trying to access is already visible, in the local vault and is just 5 Megs, The launcher will download megs of data (my monthly data quota is limited. and eating my precious data for something that I don’t need.
As soon as the list refresh is complete, then in a second the item that I want is added to project, the project is created and I can start doing what I was doing.
Issue 2
The other issue is that when creating project, it now completely ignore my default project location
set in %LocalAppData%\EpicGamesLauncher\Saved\Config\WindowsEditor\GameUserSettings.ini
as F:/Unreal (or F:\Unreal or F:\Unreal\) and keep insisting to create projects in my OS drive that does not have enough space to create projects. This was working fine until a while back.
Issue 3
Previously, The launcher would only spawn a few EpicWebHelper instances which is normal for a Web application in a wrapper, posing as a Desktop application. But recently, it started spawning two instances of NodeJS, and 5 instances of CURL during startup and sometimes Node.JS remains in memory running. I don’t understand what is the use of these processes, why don’t your app use the same EpicWebHelper to connect to internet and why is those other instances of NodeJS and curl connecting to websites other than Epic? Note that my firewall shows the connection requests, while I start the Epic Launcher and suddenly a burst of 100 of requests qoes to different websites mostly epic subdomains but there are some that are only listed with IPs which dosn’t seem to be epic servers.
