Epic Games Launches Fab

Creators have had access to the Fab library right inside Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) since last year. As of October 22, https://www.fab.com/ is live for all creators. Fab is a one-stop marketplace where users can discover, buy, sell, and share digital assets, supporting all types of creators with content for use across Unreal Engine, Unity 3D and UEFN.

We’re currently in the process of updating and refreshing the Megascans catalog available through UEFN with better, higher-quality versions of many of the assets – these updates should be completed in the coming weeks. As a reminder, Megascans content that has been acquired under a Reference license within UEFN will remain free through 2025 and beyond.

Note: The ability to drag and drop Fab content from My Library within the UEFN integration is currently unavailable. We are working to re-enable this functionality and hope to share an update soon. In the meantime, you can add anything from your library into UEFN by clicking the Add to Project button. You may also drag and drop free assets into your project from Search results.

Be sure to follow us @x.com to stay up to date on future Fab news.

Thanks Flak. I have a couple of concerns though:

  1. Has it been resolved that Fab assets are NOT downloaded every single time we want to test our maps? Are they actually downloaded to the PC and embedded or are still referenced live? (or that’s what it feels is the issue). This creates incredible amounts of wasted time if you have a lot of FAB assets.

  2. Have verification checks been done on every single asset? More often than not a UEFN project won’t even validate with FAB assets in them, this is a huge issue as UEFN is horrible at telling you what didn’t validate and gives a crypic hashed name instead of the actual FAB asset name.

Will Fab have better moderation than Sketchfab? Cuz just saying, they did not know how to moderate things very well, especially some Fortnite models 'ಠ_ಠ
