Epic Games Launcher "Verifying Update"

Hello!
I have recently downloaded the Epic Games Launcher for FortNite… several times… Every time that I have downloaded it, the launcher goes into an infinite verifying update and keeps popping up and disappearing. Odd. I have tried to find help but I have gotten nothing. Please help I have MacOs Sierra Version 10.12.6 with 3.2 GHz processor and 8 GB of memory

As in every time that I try to open the launcher it quickly “downloads” or the bar fills green and it just disappears, then repeats the process
