Epic Games Launcher - "Setup Ended Prematurely" Issue

I’m facing an issue while trying to install the Epic Games Launcher on my system. Every time I run the installer, I get an error message saying:

“Setup ended prematurely because of an error.”

Even when I manually specify the installation location as C:/Program Files/Epic Games, the installer still places files in C:/ProgramData instead. Despite multiple attempts, the installation does not complete successfully.

This scenario has been encountered a few times across the community, the best approach for resolution goes as follows:

  • Uninstall all UE related programs from your PC, and clean up your registry.
  • Execute the installer from task manage, using admin rights.
  • If the issue persists, there’s a chance that Windows is stopping the install without warning. To ensure this, turn UAC notiications on and off (test both options).
