We’ve been having this problem for a week now, no one can log in to the launcher. It only works in offline mode, which isn’t helpful for the students who need to install UE4 on computers that don’t have it yet. I’m not entirely sure what to do about it, our instructor was stumped. It’s hindering our level design class’ progress. It was working 2 weeks ago, and then suddenly was not anymore.
Has the school network recently changed? It’s far more likely that your school network is the issue than Epic’s servers. Otherwise there would be a lot more reports of this outside of your school.
Hi Annora,
Thank you for the report. We are currently investigating a string of ‘Please Wait’ issues.
First, try the suggestions in this section of the troubleshooting guide.
If nothing works, follow the steps here to generate your Debug Logs? Post them here, along with your Dxdiag (system specs).
Hi Annora,
Please make sure the school network can access the following domain/port
xmpp-service-prod.ol.epicgames.com port 5222
Failing that, you don’t need the Launcher to be able to run the Unreal Engine, it can be ran directly from it’s own folder. If one machine already has it installed you can simply share that folder on the network and copy it to other users machines that way, bypassing the Launcher entirely. Or alternatively you could download it directly from our github repository if you need the latest version. Sorry if this issue is hindering you and your students, my apologies, we’re working on resolving it.
Andrew
Thanks guys. I pointed our tech support here, it was some crazy work around that he had to figure out but he got it done. We’re back on track! Now to scramble to get my project finished before it’s due tonight.
Have a good day!
Hi Annora,
I’m glad you got it working!
If the solution could be used for other users as well, could you post it here when you have time. We have multiple users effected by this issue.
Thanks,
TJ
