Epic Games Launcher crashes - Log File Error: "Passthrough is not supported, GL is disabled."

First, I start by stating some specs about my computer: my PC laptop is x64 bit Windows 10, its GPU is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB).

Second, I’m not sure if this is the correct place to write about problems with the Epic Games Launcher. Anyway, I’ll explain this issue here.

Version 20.1.2-55517306+++UE5+Release-Distro-5.5 of the Epic Games Launcher gives me these same problems that I had encountered in versions 20.1.1-55368482+++UE5+Release-Distro-5.5 and 20.1.0-55101334+++UE5+Dev-Distro-5.5.

I) I can only add items to the Download List’s queue.

II) cannot do the following in version:

  1. Cannot change the order of the items in the Download List’s queue.

  2. Cannot cancel or pause items in the Download List’s queue.

  3. Cannot download and install any video games from the Epic Games Store.

  4. Cannot download and install anything from My Fab Library.

  5. Cannot install Unreal Engine 5.8.

  6. Cannot uninstall a plugin from a previous version of Unreal Engine 5 that is installed in my computer.

III) All of the uninstalled video games in my Epic Games Store’s Library are labeled as unavailable. I started to notice this problem in version 20.1.2-55517306+++UE5+Release-Distro-5.5 of the Epic Games Launcher.

When I am in the Library tab of the Unreal Engine section of the Epic Games Launcher, the launcher crashes as soon as it finished revealing all the items in My Fab Library.

The red debug text on top of the Epic Games Launcher states, “EOSH OFF (ResetFailed)”.

In the middle of the launcher’s screen is a pop-up window entitled, “Epic Online Services Unavailable”. The body of this pop-up window states, "Epic Online Services is currently unavailable, which is preventing the Epic Games Launcher from working correctly.

Please click ‘Restart’ below to restart the Launcher and apply the required update.

Also, the launcher’s cef3.log file keeps writing this error: ERROR:gpu_init.cc(426)] Passthrough is not supported, GL is disabled.

I tried many suggestions for fixes that were given to me by an Epic Support Assistant chat-bot in the Epic Games website. Such as,

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling Epic Games Launcher and Epic Online Services.
  • Deleting the webcache folders in AppData\Local\EpicGamesLauncher\Saved folder.
  • Made sure that I have the latest Windows 10 updates installed.
  • Installing the latest Studio Driver for my NVIDIA graphics card.
  • Switching over to the latest Game Ready Driver for NVIDIA graphics card.
  • Switched the IPv4 and IPv6 of my Wi-Fi connection to a public DNS.
  • Went into NVIDIA Control Panel to include Epic Games Launcher into Manage 3D Settings, and then, set OpenGL rendering GPU to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060.

None of these suggestions worked.

This problem started on June/20/2026 with version 20.1.0-55101334+++UE5+Dev-Distro-5.5 of the Epic Games Launcher. I did submit some support tickets with attached log files and screenshots. My feedback from human support agents was to just wait and see if any newer version of the Epic Games Launcher fixes the problem.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? What does “Passthrough is not supported, GL is disabled” mean? If this is something that could be enabled, then how can I do that? Would doing so fix this problem?
