There's no setting that affects only the shadow brightness. The settings will affect the full environmental lighting conditions of the scene.
Usually, the best setting to adjust for this is the Ambient setting under Global Lighting. Raising this will raise the intensity of the ambient light (simulated sky lighting) in the scene, brightening your shadows without brightening the lit areas too much.
