Following the annual forced upgrade on Windows 10 my Nvidia GPU became invisible and I could not even load the control panel. Over the course of the last two days I have gradually fixed the damage and all apps now appear fine. Except Unreal.
- The Epic Launcher will only
display if I tell the Nvidia
Control Panel to use integrated
graphics - If anything else is selected the
launcher appears to start but is not
displayed and I have to “end task” - Unreal Engine will not start at
all using any of the options on the
Nvidia control panel - I get the crash report window and
have sent numerous crash reports to
you - Initially Unreal Engine would start
but was using the integrated card so
just ground to a halt pretty quickly
Over the last two days I have:
- Completely uninstalled the Nvidia
drivers and software – using the DDU
utility as well as Nvida uninstall - Completely reinstalled the Nvidia drivers and software
- Reinstalled the Epic Launcher
- Repaired Unreal 4.20 from the Launcher as there is not
an uninstall and reinstall option on the launcher - Tried various combinations of the
above and rebooted countless times
System
- Unreal 4.20
- Acer Predator laptop
- Windows 10 home
- Nvidia system details in attached
image
I repeat every other application is now working fine so please do not just say “it’s not us it’s Nvidia”
This is a major issue for me. I am a teacher. I use Unreal for Games Development subjects at college. I do a lot of prep at home as well as my own projects. At the moment I can do nothing.
Thanks
