Engine crashes with X code installed on Mac

I installed Unreal Engine 4.25 on my MacBook for a project I am currently working on- a visualisation.
On launch, the engine popped up suggesting I installed XCODE as it will ensure the system runs faster. After install, I opened the engine and it seemed to run faster. I clicked on my project and the engine crashes. I have tried a blank project but the same error occurs- it says XCODE’s metal shader compiler was not found. After deleting XCODE, the engine ran as before with no issues.

Am I right in saying installing XCODE will allow rendering to take place faster or is the difference small?

I am running a 16" MacBook Pro on macOS Catalina 10.15.3

Thank you.

Update the latest XCODE, after opening XCODE (the first time you open XCODE will install the program), you are trying to open ue4 4.25. However, I found another bug, ue4 4.25 for Mac version, skylight movable lighting, does not play any role of gi.

Thanks for your reply- much appreciated.

I have followed your steps and the issue is now resolved- I don’t seem to be having the error where the sun light does not cause GI though? Not sure if it an issue specific to you?

i have the same problem when opening up unreal engine. The application always crushed even if i have xcode in my imac. can anyone give the solution? thank you in advance

i have the same problem. it always crashed even i have xcode in my imac

The thing you have to do is open Xcode and wait till the components installed
