Whenever I try to launch the Unreal Engine it starts to load and then crashes at 96% with the “Unreal Engine has stopped working” error message. I have tried to reinstall the launcher and the engine several times even with removing all associated registry. Ths is even stranger as the Engine worked fine for about a day or so before all of this started.
I am using the current version 4.7.3 on Windows 8.1 with Intel Core i5-3230M @ 2.6GHz and 6GB RAM and Intel HD Graphics 4000.
It looks like the issue could be with your processor and RAM. You have a dual-core processor and 6 gb of RAM. We recommend having a quad-core and 8 gb of RAM.
Here is the full recommend specs:
Desktop PC with Windows 7 64-bit or a Mac with Mac OS X 10.9.2 or later
8 GB RAM
Quad-core Intel or AMD processor
DX11 compatible video card
If you like, you can upload your full dxdiag (system specs), Log, and Dmp files and I will take a look. Just keep in mind with hardware limitations, there may not be much we can do. You can find directions on where to find that info here.
I understand that it would seem like the easiest explanation, but it always “stops working” on 96% exactly without exceeding the limits of performance of either CPU or RAM. Which makes me think its a specific problem.
I realize I don’t have the hardware recommended but before this started to occur I had been able to use the engine alright even in the scenes as the matinee fight scene example. My primary objective is now to start learning with the engine, and then possibly buy better hardware later. Thanks for any suggestions.
I took this one above from “C:\Users\Tobias\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppCrash_UE4Editor.exe_dc6494eb13aeee7f1373a406737dc72bd5845eb_27f3ed9f_05373cd0” as it seems to be the only folder that actually gets updated when the crash happens. in ReportQeue there is only o[link text][1]ne relating to the launcher. Adding now, but not sure whether related.
Regarding the callstack, not sure what you mean. The window only says “Unreal Engine has stopped working.” with no possibility of collecting any extra details.
We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as resolved for tracking purposes. If you’re still experiencing this issue, please try the suggestion I posted above and let me know if it still crashes or not.
