Engine Crash on launch, Setting GameMode/Instance

I was getting issues with Unknown structures so i wanted to see the out come if i copied my project to a new 4.15 project, well after trying to set ether of the gamemode or instance in project setting it produces this blow crash, it also crashes loading the project after the 1st crash i then have to remove the config files to get it to start.

seems likely you have an invalid object somewhere, looks likely to be a UI widget. (userwidget.cpp in the callstack) - I wouldn’t be surprised if it has one of the invalid structures you were having issues with.

Look through your log file (and/or upload it here), and it might have a reference to what is getting loaded - but I’m not optimistic. Try removing some blueprints, in particular the ui widgets, until you don’t get this crash.

Here’s a possible method: try deleting all of them. If that doesn’t crash, restore half of them. Keep restoring half until it crashes again. When you get a crash, delete half of what you just restored. Keep halving the good/bad until you pin down what file causes the crash. (this is a binary search!)

It’s possible multiple files are causing crashes, so once you find one that crashes, restore everything but that known bad file, and see if it still explodes.

Once you know the bad blueprint, if the project loads in the old versions, load it up in that, and try to figure out what is wrong with it. Sounds like you at least already have some feedback that something is busted. Definitely follow up here with what the issue was, so that the crash can be fixed in the engine.

If it doesn’t load in the old engine, you might just have to rebuild the bad blueprints. Alternately, you could upload the project somewhere and someone at Epic might be able to help you more directly.
