Engagement Payout Formula Update

Creators,

We will be updating the engagement payout formula, effective November 1, 2023.

We will be introducing a new metric to the engagement payout formula that will reward creators when players spend V-Bucks in Fortnite before or after playing their island.

UPDATE:

Creators,

to provide some clarity: the new engagement payout metric we announced earlier today will be evaluated based on individual player V-Buck spend in Fortnite the week before or the week after engaging with an island. This is in addition to the time played and other metrics evaluating player popularity and player retention metrics we introduced with engagement payouts earlier this year.

Can we have more info about the formula or the real reason behind this ? The explanation feels really vague to me…

Will this new formula update also count for V-bucks spent in-island via the Item Shop device?

Also, regarding the topic of spending V-bucks, will there be more ways for players to spend V-bucks to help creators (e.g. in-game purchases)?

What about battle passes? Epic has unfair advantage here as new battlepass release together with new BR map.

In other words everyone that buy battle pass will play BR right after buying.

Is this a replacement of the current payout metrics ( based on players/time ECT) or is this just going to be in addition to the current system??

Very vage information. This can only mean that this system will replace the current one, offering much less profit to creators. If this system were an addition to the current system it would be announced with great fanfare to attract more creators from Roblox for example.

There’s no information on battle pass earnings either, so Epic Games probably will not play fair here.

I don’t like this little information at all and that the creators’ earnings system is so unstable.
