Enemy AI that chases/attacks player?

Hey, guys. I’m working on an indie horror game and wanted to know how I can get an enemy AI to chase the player upon starting the game. I want the enemy to know where the player is at all times and attack them when in close proximity. Does anybody know how I can do this? If so, I’d really appreciate it if you could show me how. Thanks in advance!
