For inspiration, I looked at classic car ads from the 60s. One vintage photo in particular caught my eye – a 1962 Simca 1000/1200S Coupe ad by Bertone. I liked the atmosphere: the elegant simplicity of the composition, the bright car against the backdrop of nature and the people emphasizing the style of that era.
I decided to recreate this scene, but in a more modern way, while maintaining the spirit of the original.
The 1961 Hino Contessa 900 Sprint has smooth lines, a sporty silhouette and characteristic details that fit perfectly with the image of a retro ad.
One of the key points was the lighting. I made it soft to emphasize the silhouette of the car and create nice highlights on the body. Thanks to this, the car looks bright, and the surroundings are not distracting.
After rendering, I finished the image in Photoshop.
I added some softness and a vintage tint to make the image look like an old photo. Corrected the colors, increased the contrast of the car.
Made a slight blur of the background so that the viewer focused on the main object.
The result was a retro photo with a modern interpretation, where the Hino Contessa looks like the hero of an old advertisement.
