Editor Freezes With Mouse Over - After Windows Update 06/04/2020

Hello,

I’m currently experiencing an issue where the editor just freezes if I move the mouse over any part else the level editor.

The editor freezes, then, the PC freezes. It wasn’t happening before the update on Windows Security KB4557968.

The engine versions 4.24 and 4.25 are freezing in the same way, 4.22 and 4.23 aren’t. The projects I’m working on is on on 4.24 and 4.25.

In a clean install or with projects the same issue is occurring.

i9 9980HK
64GB RAM
RTX 2080 Max-Q Design

There’s more than 400gb of room in the NVM-e SSD.

This Windows update is mandatory and can’t be uninstalled.

I’m with a deadline for the project and it just happened, I tried uninstalling the latest Windows Updates, Drivers, searched a lot in the answerhub and also tried several methods, no luck yet.

I really need a light on this subject, already lost a day on it.

If I try to open a folder in the Content Editor, it will freeze immediately.

  • Tried uninstalling Nvidia Drivers, cleaning registries, reinstalling.
  • Uninstalled the engine, reinstalled, tested blank projects, same issue.

The solution I found was reverting the last Windows Update, it removed the security update and it all worked again.

Not the first time, probably not the last time…
