Adding collapse function in contest menu/hotkey, may bring some order.
Collapse recursively all the subfolder of a specific folder will be preferable as finer grained than the collapse everything and all.
It could be possibly implemented as slate basic functionality you can leverage in whatever widget features a tree like structure.
