Editing local.xml for Local coordinate reference system use in US Survey FT

I am in the process of processing a drone flight for earthwork quantities. The CAD files and linework that I have provided are in local coordinate grid, so I would like to output in that local coordinate system. I followed the instructions in the help article on how to edit the local.xml file and add the tagline for US ft in a local calibration. I have edited the xml with Notepad++, added the taglines and saved, and am still not seeing the option for my local system in the drop down menu. I have tried pretty much everything at this point. Restarted the program, triple checked the commands I copied into the xml file, everything. Can anyone who has possibly done this before, chime in and advise? Thanks in advance.

Hi Tkennedy576,
this should work following the proposed tutorial.

  • Just go to C:\Program Files\Capturing Reality\RealityCapture and open local.xml file in Notepad.
  • add the line with a wanted coordinate system definition (be aware of the quotes, as just copy - paste will use the wrong ones

  • save the file in the administrator mode
  • open RealityCapture a go to WORKFLOW/Application/Settings/Coordinate systems and click on the three dots sign
  • then click on Import

  • and find the local.xml file. It will add the Local system database:

and you will see the option to select the own coordinate system:

  • after clicking on select you will have set it in the application settings:
