Edit Materials without creating new ones

Hello. I would very much like to be able to edit materials in Twinmotion, without going through the motions of creating new ones in the process.

As we do it nowadays, we have a small but strong material library of our own, but it could always be improved iteratively. We use the automatic substitution feature that translates certain materials from the modeling software (in our case, ArchiCAD) to our own twinmotion materials. But whenever we try to change our materials, the only way we’ve seen so far to do so is to change its settings and then “save” those changes as a new material (“add to User Library” command). Is it possible to save these changes into the already existing material? We don’t like how it is right now, with the prospect of having to change the substitution file and deal with all the ever expanding set of variants of materials whenever we want a small change (I know, we can easily delete them, but still).

It’s not possible to edit the Twinmotion native library. Like you mentionned, the only way will be to save them in your user library.

I’m sorry for only responding now, I thought it would automatically report to my email when someone did. My question is not about native libraries. My question is about any materials within the User Library. I have several of them in my folders which I would like to tinker with. But I am not able to just save on top of my own materials, I can only create new ones.

You can apply any material and then go to the details of that material in the editor and change the texture, normals, roughness etc with your own files…
