Echoes of Tindaya | UE 4.27 Land Art Project Visualization and Animation

Greetings everyone!
I’d like to share you another internal ‘R&D’ visualization project that I worked on, with help from a fellow architect and collaborator. We named it ‘Echoes of Tindaya’ and it is an homage/interpretation of the land art project ‘Tindaya’ by the famous Basque artist Eduardo Chillida.

‘Tindaya’ is a mountain in the Canary Islands which was the subject of the final artwork concept devised by Chillida. Created as a ‘Monument to Tolerance’, it encompassed a cave of monumental proportions that was to be carved inside the mountain itself - a sort of inverted sculpture, more about the ‘void’ than the ‘object’. A long gallery would lead to this majestic hall that would be lit solely by two vertical shafts leading to the top of the mountain.

The project (as of today) has not yet been built and so it makes for an very appealing subject to bring to life using realtime visualization.

I used this motif as a way to further study some Unreal Engine features like raytracing, explore the Quixel Megascans library, as well as some decal and particle effects, and also do some stuff with 3D people and animation using AXYZ Anima.

This was all done in UE 4.27 using a hybrid of static lighting and realtime raytracing.

Hope you like it and I’m also counting on your critical input.

Greetings, @VirtuVius_RV; I hope you’re doing well! I’m a bit late in seeing your impressive creation, “Echoes of Tindaya,” but thank you all the same for sharing this creation with us in the forums. Your visualization has provided awareness of an artistic concept that may never come to fruition and insight into what could have been! Beautiful work; kudos to you and your team for the excellent visualization. :star_struck:
