Easy way to add plugins to an engine downloaded from github & compiled by myself?

Hello,

When I want to add a plugin to Unreal from the Epic launcher, I can only add it to engines installed from the launcher.
I am using custom versions where Chaos is compiled, which means they do not appear in the launcher so I cannot add any plugin to them this way.
I have to install the same engine version than the fork I work with, use the launcher to download and install the good plugin version, and then copy-paste the files from an engine to another…

This is VERY annoying, because I have to keep (almost) the same engine on my computer TWICE…

Do you know a better way to download & install plugins in engines non recognized by the launcher?
I hope Epic will change how the launcher works…
