Imagine this scene: You have many completely samed assets like Materials, Textures, etc, They are in the different folder and referenced by other different assets, But each one of them are still completely same, Even have the same name. This usually happen when you have different marketplace content pack from same series or author.
Now, You need to merge every same one of them to keep the project clean and clear. When you do this in windows, You only need to select all of them, Throwing to a same folder, Then the file with same name can be automatically merge to one, Right?
But in UE Content browser, When you do this, The engine will tell you “There’s a file with the same name in that folder, sorry lol” and do nothing. You can only manually select each series of them, Right click, Replace refrences, Select one you want to merge blabla and do this for thousand years.
I know there’s many problem with refrences and assets system, But can we have a option to merge assets with same name and type when moving them to same folder, Let one of them become the elden lord and redirect all the refrences to him automatically? Is there some ways to do this now?
2 years later using Unreal Engine 5.3.2 and this is still a big issue. @ChronoYuki Did you find any solution to this?
Nope, still feel pain for this
