EarthBound like dialogue guidance

Hello and thanks in advance for any help!

I am pretty new to unreal, I have worked on a few projects i ended up scrapping for lack of direction. i am now working on an Earthbound like game and more or less know exactly what i’m going for but i have no clue how to go about setting up a dialogue system for it.

what I’m going for is simple, when the player approaches an NPC and presses either bottom face button or left shoulder it opens a dialogue window with scrolling text which can change depending on how many times the player has spoken to them.

if anyone has any guidance as to how this could work i would really appreciate it!
