Hi,
I have recently been trying to import E57 laser files into RC that have been supplied to me from a contractor.
Although the E57 files do load the point density of these files seem dramatically reduced in RC than seen in other programmes such as Cloud Compare.
for instance one of the files is over 44,000,000 points in Cloud compare but in RC it comes in just over 65,000. This is a dramatic drop in resolution and was wondering if it could be an incorrect import setting?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Hi ross.havery
Can you send me one E57 file ? so that I can inspect its resolution and so on, send it to milos.lukac@capturingreality.com
In principle, after you import the E57, it’s converted to LSP ( Laser Scan Picture ) and when you align, you get only FEATURES to see in the 3D view. so we don’t load all points in the file - just detected features used for ALIGNMENT. You can try to use NORMAL mode reconstruction and see the resolution of the mesh, default settings are 5 mm resolution, you can change it in RECONSTRUCTION ribbon -> SETTINGS -> LASER SCANNER -> MINIMAL SAMPLING DISTANCE…
… Or open the LSP in the 2D view and you can see the real resolution of the scan ( as pixels )
