Dynamic craters in landscape


I am just collecting ideas at the moment (new to ue4) so I don’t need an in depth answer at the moment. Is it possible to create craters dynamically in the landscapes, for example when a shell explodes, and then have the crater behave like one, so players could fall into it? Can the entire landscape be damageable? And how much of a hit would this be on a multiplayer game with between 20 and 30 players replicating craters over the map (say a map of 1009 x 1009)?


Afaik, this currently isn’t supported with the landscape tool.

You could probably achieve this effect using static meshes.

…or voxels!
